Netanyahu announces the continued presence of the Israeli army in Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Tuesday that Israeli forces will remain in most parts of the Gaza Strip, following his approval of the peace plan announced by U.S. President Donald Trump. Netanyahu stated via Telegram: “We will reclaim all our hostages, alive and in good health, while the Israeli army remains in most areas of the sector.”
In his comments, Netanyahu clarified that he did not agree to establishing a Palestinian state during his meetings with Trump at the White House, stressing that Israel opposes any project to create a Palestinian state and describing it as a reward for terrorism.
He pointed out that his visit to Washington was historic, and that the success of the deal came within the framework of isolating Hamas. He added that the international community is now pressuring Hamas to accept the conditions set by Israel and Trump for the release of the captives.
In another statement, Netanyahu affirmed that the Palestinian Authority would not have a role in Gaza without fundamental changes, explaining that the administration of Gaza would be civilian and peaceful, and that Hamas or the Palestinian Authority would not lead it. He also stated that Trump’s position focuses on preventing the authority from controlling the sector until a genuine and comprehensive transformation occurs.
The White House announced that implementing the plan would enable an immediate end to the war, with Israeli forces withdrawing to the agreement lines and all military operations temporarily halted. Fighting would cease until the conditions for full withdrawal are gradually met, alongside the release of the hostages.
