The Ukrainian armed forces have claimed responsibility for carrying out targeted military strikes on critical strategic sites within Russia, including significant oil and industrial facilities.

In a statement shared via Telegram, the Ukrainian General Staff reported that "Ukrainian defense forces executed precise strikes against Russian targets actively involved in supporting the armed aggression against our country."

The strikes were conducted in retaliation for recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities, which resulted in civilian casualties and injuries, as reported by the Kyiv Post. The specific targets included oil refineries in Ryazan and Novokuibyshevsk, a fuel and oil storage facility in the Furonig region, and the Elektropibror defense plant in Penza—an advanced communications and military equipment manufacturing facility.

The statement detailed that these operations led to fires and explosions at the targeted sites, with a full assessment of damages still underway. The coordination involved UAVs, special forces units, the Ukrainian Security Service, and military intelligence.

The General Staff emphasized Ukraine’s commitment to continue targeting infrastructure that sustains the Russian military until the aggression ceases.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian media reports indicated explosions across several Russian regions, including Lipetsk, Ryazan, Taganrog, Samara, Furonig, and Crimea, where the Crimean Bridge was temporarily closed following explosions in Feodosia.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced that it intercepted or shot down 112 Ukrainian drone attacks overnight.

It is noteworthy that Russia intensified its airstrikes on Ukraine in July, launching over 6,000 long-range drones and approximately 200 missiles, leading to a significant increase in civilian casualties, according to the United Nations.
