Departure of Workers from Northern Syrian Tribes Amid Conflicting Reports on Kidnapped Persons
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented the departure of several people from tribes in northern Syria, who were working on an agricultural project in the Sweida governorate, after their work period ended. They boarded buses at their own expense heading toward the capital, Damascus.
Meanwhile, some media outlets and local pages exploited the workers' departure to falsely accuse them of freeing kidnapped individuals, claiming that Druze militants had released 30 people yesterday. The Observatory confirms that this claim is false, unfounded, and taken out of context, expressing surprise at its inaccurate circulation.
In related news, there are reports of an agreement between the Druze community and the Syrian government aimed at preparing a batch of kidnapped persons for a possible exchange operation, which might take place today. However, these reports remain unconfirmed officially.
