Iran and America: New Round of Technical Talks in Oman

As the involved parties prepare for a new round of technical discussions between Iran and America in Oman in two days, this move comes after previous rounds in Rome and Muscat. Iran has reiterated its commitment to diplomatic avenues.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who leads his country's delegation in these talks, confirmed that the diplomatic route remains open, despite Tehran's readiness to face all options. In an interview with "Russia Today," Araghchi stated that Iran has previously shown that it is not subject to pressure or the language of force, but responds effectively to threats. He noted that the Americans may have returned to test Iran's resilience and will, but they have witnessed the results of this test firsthand.

He also pointed out that the current U.S. administration has implemented a maximum pressure policy, where military threats have taken on a new form, leading to the military repositioning of U.S. forces around Iran. However, Araghchi affirmed that Iran has not retreated from its firm positions.

He dismissed the possibility of military threats being executed, considering that the world and the Americans have become aware of Iran's ability to defend itself.

The third round of indirect talks between Araghchi and U.S. envoy Steve Wietsch will take place on Saturday in Oman, following previous negotiations described as positive.

It is worth noting that former U.S. President Donald Trump sent a letter to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei early last March, calling for negotiations on a new nuclear agreement, giving Tehran a two-month deadline. At the end of March, Iranian authorities responded to that letter, expressing their readiness for dialogue, despite the military threats posed by Washington.
