Wide security campaign targets the French Ghurab Brigade in Harim city, Idlib countryside
حملة أمنية واسعة تستهدف كتيبة الغرباء الفرنسية في مدينة حارم بريف إدلب

The Syrian Interim Government’s Internal Security Forces carried out a large-scale security operation targeting the French Camp in Harim city west of Idlib. This area is controlled by the “Ghurab” Brigade led by the French jihadist of Senegalese origin, Omar Oumsin, with the aim of arresting individuals wanted by France.

Sources indicated that clashes erupted last night, as security forces used light and medium weapons in an attempt to storm the camp, resulting in the death and injury of several French migrants and security personnel. French jihadists were also arrested during the operation.

This campaign comes in response to security threats within the camp, according to security sources, who confirmed that the main goal is to arrest Oumsin and end his influence within the camp, with an emphasis on protecting women and children, and preventing the escalation of clashes into northern Idlib areas. On the other hand, sources within the Ghurab Brigade leadership stated that the objective is to dismantle the brigade and surrender its leaders and members to France.

As part of the campaign, forces are pursuing locations where foreign migrants reside in Idlib to identify and search those affiliated with jihadist groups, especially the French nationals.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights cited international sources stating that the interim president, Ahmed al-Sharif, promised France to eliminate the presence of French jihadists in Syria and surrender them to Paris. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his visit to Moscow, confirmed that arrangements are underway for the phased repatriation of Russian and Chechen migrants to their countries to prevent any uprisings against the Syrian government.

In response to the campaign, the French Migrants Group in Harim, through “The Ghurab Unit,” released a statement claiming that the interim government is cooperating with the United States and the international coalition, executing a plan to eliminate foreign migrants, and has begun arresting French nationals specifically.
